RED WAVE! Nooo RED TSUNAMI! Those darn democrats aren’t ready for this!
I’m sick and tired of hearing “Red Wave” every five seconds from Republican pundits and voters. Why? The obvious answer is because we elect these people who then proceed to spit on us at every turn, but then always seem to find more of our money for funding foreign proxy wars.
But that’s low-hanging fruit. The reason this ‘red wave’ speak really irks me, is you. No, not you specifically, but the Republican base as a whole, is weak and powerless, refusing to hold their representatives accountable. It’s always ‘red wave’ this, and ‘red wave’ that, during election time, then win or lose, it’s back to what really matters to Republicans. No, not 2A rights, or even trans insanity with kids. Nope, it’s the NFL! Our own strain of opioids for the Republican masses. “But without the NFL we’d be so bored, and angry like the commies!” Do you not hear how pathetic that is? I don’t even advocate against watching college football, or baseball, or heck, hockey is basically the only sport we have left. (Not for long though.)
Just this one company, that actively hates you and your values—you can’t give them up for even one season? One season to show that you have any self respect? Apparently not. But, that’s why I don’t feel bad anymore. Republicans deserve everything that’s happening right now, because instead of doing something about it, they scream “RED WAVE” and put on the game, oh and don’t forget to grab some wings. Don’t even get me started on Marvel Movies.
Why do none of our representatives actually represent us? Because we’re too soft and spineless to demand better. It’s Stockholm syndrome with our domestic abusers at this point. Happily ignorant while handing our country over to those who’d prefer we don’t exist.
Now that you’re probably writing me off as a doomer, let me qualify a few statements. Is it better to have a majority in the House and Senate so they can—maybe—stop some radical legislation getting rammed through? Sure! Is a governor like Kari Lake in AZ or Dough Mastriano in PA a good thing? You betcha. I’m just trying to drive home the point that we must demand better from our party. While the Democrats reward their base. The GOP spits on you.
That means showing up to your primary, googling some candidates, and yes, running for office. School board, county council, state house, etc. Does anyone want to get off work and go to a school board meeting? F*ck no, but they do, and that’s why they’re winning.
Turn off the NFL and realize that things don’t change until you do.
